Logistics Specialist
Our client based in Durban is looking for a Logistics Specialist.
Roles and Responsibilities
Main Purpose of Job: To develop and grow a sales pipeline and customer base, and to coordinate and deliver Logistics Services for imports and exports within our High and Heavy and forwarding operations through own or 3rd party services (customs/ transport/ assembly).
Key Responsibility Areas:
To develop and drive the growth in Sales revenue of High and Heavy (Agri/ Con/ Mining) OEM's, importers, and key accounts.
To develop and drive the growth in Sales revenue of freight forwarding customers, importers, and key accounts.
Identify new customers and business opportunities and secure responses to Tenders / RFQ and Project Bid / Responses and Quote requests in the Southern African region.
The role includes a strong focus on self-reliance, researching, identifying, and developing new opportunities, together with winning new customers as well as developing and maintaining the commercial relationship with new and existing clients.
To consistently deliver an outstanding and professional service, through understanding customer's needs, to achieve total customer satisfaction and always demonstrating the company's values and translate customer needs to the operational services.
To provide day-to-day logistics coordination and monitoring of customers and 3rd party suppliers (operational and administratively).
Close customer interaction, accept & handle all customer enquiries and compile and send quotations/ proposals timeously.
Proactively ensure positive relationships with customers to maintain and drive new business growth.
Perform specific tasks in a way that directly contribute to the achievement of contractual objectives, specifically the contractually agreed performance targets (KPI's) ensuring high quality customer services.
Ensure follow up on Customer Satisfaction within set framework.
Negotiation of freight costs with customers and preparation of offers/tender responses.
Negotiation of costs with 3rd parties and subcontractors.
System input on completed jobs for Invoicing.
Delivering on the Business Development department's targets, budget and KPI's as well as those KPI's contractually agreed with customers.
P&L responsibility for the allocated revenue and cost budget.
Legal compliance within the department's activities.
Compliance with respect to WW process, policies, procedures, and instructions.
Required to perform any task as and when required by management.
Additional Requirements:
Sound knowledge and experience in South African customs procedures, import and export.
Over border and domestic road transportation, including abnormal transport loads, container loads, consolidated loads etc.
Ocean Freight, import and export, RORO/BBK/FCL/LCL.
Airfreight knowledge/experience would be an advantage.
Basic accounting knowledge and accuracy with figures.
Language skills: English business fluent.
Strong business and commercial acumen.
Market knowledge and intelligence.

Competencies:
Good knowledge & experience in HH and/or Freight Forwarding processes and procedures and cross border activities.
Very good knowledge of MS Office – i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Excellent communication skills - Can provide full, clear, and timely information, both verbally and in writing.
Proven ability to complete projects according to outlined scope, budget, and timeline.
Time Management - Prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines.
