Description You as a Logistics Planning & Optimization Senior Professional will be part of Hitachi Energy business based in Modderfontein, Gauteng, South Africa. This role will be responsible for successfully implementing and continuously optimizing the TT&L operation by effectively managing daily operational KPI's and driving the continuous improvement of TT&L processes, tools, and services. You will identify and drive off- and near-scoring opportunities, supporting Business Function and/or Business Excellence Centers to ensure goods are shipped while meeting quality, legal, and cost parameters. Additionally, you will develop, maintain, and improve transport/logistics processes to optimize inbound and/or outbound product and material delivery to external and internal clients.
Your responsibilities Utilizing various transportation software systems to facilitate material movement, planning, and scheduling, including customs and trade applications.Preparing and updating monthly logistics schedules to ensure deliveries to production locations and coordinating product delivery schedules with customers.Coordinating daily activities to track location and movement of inventory finished goods and raw materials via all transport modes, re-routing freight as needed to meet demands and minimize costs while communicating fulfillment status to Logistics and Sales organizations as appropriate.Working closely with transport service providers and brokers to assure efficient and effective execution of processes, assisting in obtaining necessary transport permits and codes, and preparing proper transportation paperwork and import and export documentation.Supporting the development and implementation of improved processes and systems and maintaining master data.Following a structured process of identifying improvement areas, defining root causes, and applying process improvement methodologies, as well as active change management; ensuring standardization of transportation processes.Monitoring and managing the performance delivery of the team via frequent KPI-supported reviews.Ensuring service quality and productivity levels of the TT&L are met by hiring the right quality and number of resources, and being accountable for delivery against internal and external Service Level Agreements.Ensuring compliance of shipping with all local and global regulations while optimizing the distribution network and customs procedures.Implementing pre-defined Best Practices and identifying and describing personal Best Practices to ensure high standards and high-quality operations across the TMC's.Working closely with transport partners to resolve issues and provide direction.Sharing, launching, and delivering continuous improvement projects within the transportation area.Delivering on budget and targets within the framework, ensuring that logistics performance targets are achieved.Ensuring (with HR Manager support) that the area of responsibility is properly organized, staffed, skilled, and directed; guiding, motivating, and developing direct and indirect subordinates within HR policies for the benefit of both Hitachi Energy and the employee.Living Hitachi Energy's core values of safety and integrity, taking responsibility for your own actions while caring for your colleagues and the business.Your background A Diploma in Logistics Management or an MBA in Logistics or Operations Management from a recognized institute.Minimum of 5+ years of relevant experience in logistics & SCM.Supporting South Africa & the African Continent Cluster.Full understanding of local transportation (within country), import, export, and trade operations.Good relationships with local & global transport suppliers.Proficiency in both spoken and written English is required.
