Logistics Planning Analyst – Johannesburg

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:Volume Estimation and Capacity Planning:Accurately forecast daily and weekly delivery volumes to determine the number of owner drivers needed.Develop daily plans and schedules for the owner-driver network to meet delivery targets efficiently.Coordinate with the owner drivers to ensure adequate capacity and timely deliveries.Cost Management:Monitor and control costs associated with the owner-driver network to ensure alignment with budget targets.Track and analyse cost trends, identifying areas for potential savings and increased efficiency.Collaborate with the finance and procurement teams to manage costs and optimize the financial performance of the owner-driver network.Data Analysis and Reporting:Collect, analyse, and interpret data related to vehicle utilization, route efficiency, and performance metrics.Generate and present regular reports on volume forecasts, vehicle usage, and costs to support management decision-making.Use data insights to identify trends and inefficiencies and recommend actionable improvements.Process Improvement and Efficiency:Continuously review and refine operations to enhance the efficiency of the owner-driver network.Propose and support the implementation of process improvements, focusing on optimizing routes, vehicle utilization, and reducing operational costs.Stay updated with industry best practices and integrate new technologies or processes to drive efficiencies.Owner Driver Relationship Management:Monitor performance and compliance with company standards, addressing any deviations promptly.Decision Support:Provide data-driven insights and recommendations to senior management on optimizing the owner-driver network and improving delivery performance.Assist in the development of strategies to support long-term growth and operational goals for the owner-driver fleet.Support decision-making by ensuring that accurate forecasts and data are readily available for operational planning JOB RELATED REQUIREMENTS:Education:Bachelors degree in Industrial Engineering or Business Analysis or a related field.Relevant certifications in supply chain or data analytics are a plus.Experience:2-4 years of experience in logistics, transportation planning, or supply chain management.Experience managing or coordinating with owner-driver networks or similar transportation setups advantageous.Proven experience with data analysis, forecasting, and cost management.
