Job details Here's how the job details align with your profile.Job typePermanentLocationBoksburg, GautengFull job descriptionPosition Purpose / ObjectiveThe Logistics Controller assumes full responsibility for the successful exporting and importing of orders in addition to coordinating local deliveries.Duties and ResponsibilitiesExports:Coordinating container collections, lashing and strapping arrangements with relevant logistic companies.Ensuring that correct Incoterm are applied and ensuring destination country requirements are understood and that we are compliant.Preparing shipping documents timeously to ensure that customer delivery dates are met, including commercial invoices, clearing instructions, and SLI on each export, country of origin certificates, SAD500 documents, BV reports, etc.Preparing relevant shipping documents for Letter of Credit transactions ensuring that bank requirements and customs requirements are met by all parties.Ensuring all relevant Customs documents are filed electronically and sent to SARS where audits are done monthly.Arranging BV inspections for projects to DRC, Zimbabwe, Ghana, Central Africa, Tanzania, Zambia.Project management – ensuring all transport and freight arrangements are made in line with customer delivery dates, using Asana as a guideline to update feedback.Regular status updates of sailing on all shipments to customers to ensure we are in control of freight.Ensure SOPs are followed when delivering or collecting containers in terms of safety and compliance.Writing SOPs when there are gaps in our processes.Obtain shipping estimates for project tenders and parts that are exported (Sea/Air/Road) as requested.Coordinating part sales collections on a daily basis to ensure cargo is collected in a timely manner.Arranging BV inspections on all capital and parts that are going to DRC and Zimbabwe.Measuring and communicating supplier performance quarterly to ensure OTD.Price negotiations on better rates and annual special pricing on rate cards.Update expected delivery dates in the ERP system.Inform sales team of expected delivery dates and highlight potential delays in advance.LC contracts – ensuring accuracy of documents in line with the LC requirements on all logistic actions, implementing follow-up controls to expedite the delivery of orders on time.Pursuing new or alternative sources of supply to improve reliability and shorten delivery lead times at a reduced cost.Imports:Tracking all shipments daily.Expediting from order placement to delivery.Maintaining solid relationships with suppliers.Consolidating orders from more than one supplier to save on freight costs.Monthly supplier meetings to measure their OTD, service, and costs.Compliance with customer requirements on exports/imports.Ensuring completeness and correctness of orders (i.e., pricing, Incoterms, delivery dates, destination address, exporters code, nominated freight forwarder, etc.).Verifying if orders placed have a valid demand.Ensuring that all orders are placed within 36 working hours of demand being confirmed.Secure pricing for a fixed period, monitor the validity, and ensure that we have the most current pricing loaded in the ERP.Stand in for Imports & Exports Buyer role when required.Ensuring full compliance to the Astec Code of Conduct in terms of items relevant to procurement.Local:Monthly SLA meetings with logistics suppliers, raising any concerns and ensuring accounts are paid on time.Working hand in hand with the workshop to arrange collections and deliveries, ensuring correct paperwork is issued and time slots coordinated with workshop personnel.Ensuring all monthly statements from local suppliers are paid on time and that relevant documents are issued for approval of payment.Maintaining solid relationships with suppliers to ensure their OTD, service, and costs.Preparing weekly and monthly logistics reports (both export and import).Ensuring compliance with QMS standards.Qualifications:Degree or Diploma in Logistics or Supply Chain.Minimum 5 years Export/Import experience.Good communication and negotiation skills.Ability to liaise at Buyer/Senior level with overseas companies.Ability to source/evaluate best rates/freight charges and terms.Ensure freight forwarders are consolidating the cargo as far as possible to reduce freight costs per part.The individual must be available after hours to ensure that the logistics function is executed properly.
