The general role of the Lodge Assistant Manager is to ensure that the overall guest experiences in all aspects of the Lodge are as per the prescribed standard and to the highest degree. This includes ensuring that every aspect of the Guest's stay is well taken care of, encompassing Families, activities and programs, Honeymoon couples, Groups, Weddings, or Guests staying with us.This involves overseeing the departments at the Lodge that directly impact the guest's stay, including Housekeeping, F&B service, Spa, and Front office. The Lodge Assistant Manager will liaise directly with all heads of departments on guest movements, requests, and special needs on a daily and weekly basis. The Lodge Assistant Manager will work closely with the Lodge Anchor, Head Ranger, Head Chef, and Head of Housekeeping to ensure the Lodge's overall product offering is presented professionally and accurately.The Lodge Assistant Manager needs to be able to take full responsibility for the lodge and its operations in the absence of the Lodge General Manager.Responsibilities:Oversee the guest experience from arrival to departure on a day-to-day basis.Manage the arrival experience for individuals, families, and groups, ensuring the Reception and Front office adhere to standards consistently – welcome drinks, refresher towels, and create a warm and welcoming atmosphere.Oversee daily dining activities in and around the Lodge, ensuring varied offerings on a day-to-day basis.Forecast dining experiences in line with standards and offerings and maximize favorable weather conditions for dining experiences.Liaise with Head Chef and Head Ranger in advance to plan, staff, and prepare for various dining experiences.Ensure consistent offerings for all dining and set and improve standards regularly.Adapt to guest's needs and requests and plan daily activities around this.Implement and manage the Kid's program and adapt it to individual families.Ensure operating equipment and guest service equipment are always maintained and in good operating use.Adopt and promote a philosophy of guest experience daily in all staff and departments to ensure consistent offerings are in place at all times.Responsible for creating purchase orders and receiving & allocating stock.Ensuring invoices are correctly allocated to the accounts department.Monthly annual leave management and sick leave management.Ensure staff is professional, well-groomed, and productive whilst on duty.Manage site educational, wedding inspections, and other low-key on-site marketing initiatives.Implementing correct action plans and monitoring performance in all departments.Implement and adapt best practice policies for departments including daily checking of departments and productivity.Report daily problems or concerns in repairs and maintenance in departments timeously for action.Manage daily communication and meetings for all departments to ensure the flow of information is accurate.Manage daily guest experience delivery – setups and hosting of functions, meals, and other services on and off site or on the Reserve.Maintain a professional but personal contact with guests.Host VIPs, agents, and other guests flagged as important for the lodge.Group management and planning.Assess health and safety practices of the company and assist with maintaining SHE files.Requirements:Grade 12 or higher.Microsoft knowledge (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel).F&B knowledge (Liquor allocations, Stocktake & Ordering).Pastel knowledge is a bonus.Previous experience in a similar role.
