Job Description
Our client requires a Finance Manager who will oversee financial planning, budgeting, and reporting to ensure fiscal responsibility within the council. This role involves managing the finance team, overseeing financial operations, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations and standards. The Finance Manager will also support strategic decision-making through financial analysis and forecasting, contributing to OUR CLIENT's mission of maintaining industrial stability in the sector.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with industry standards.
Oversee the annual budgeting process, monitoring expenditures to stay within budgetary constraints.
Generate financial reports and analyse data to identify trends, anomalies, and areas for improvement.
Budgeting and Forecasting
Lead the development of the annual budget, working closely with department heads.
Provide financial forecasts to aid in strategic planning, aligning financial goals with OUR CLIENT's mission and objectives.
Monitor cash flow and forecast future financial performance based on historical data.
Compliance and Risk Management
Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations, tax obligations, and internal policies.
Coordinate with external auditors for annual audits and provide documentation as required.
Conduct regular risk assessments, recommending policies to mitigate financial risks.
Financial Analysis & Strategy Support
Perform financial analysis to support strategic initiatives and operational decisions.
Provide insights and recommendations to senior management based on financial performance metrics.
Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or regulatory standards.
Team Leadership
Manage and mentor the finance team, promoting a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Develop and implement training programs for finance staff to enhance skill sets and efficiency.
Set performance targets and monitor team progress, providing constructive feedback and guidance.
Stakeholder Management
Serve as a liaison between finance and other departments to ensure accurate financial data sharing.
Collaborate with external parties, such as auditors, tax authorities, and regulatory bodies.
Support OUR CLIENT members and stakeholders with financial queries and report generation.
Qualifications
Honours degree in Accounting, CA(SA), HiDip in Tax is a plus.
Skills
Strong proficiency in financial management software (e.g., SAP, QuickBooks) and MS Excel.
Excellent knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis techniques.
In-depth understanding of compliance and regulatory requirements in South Africa.
Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in finance management, preferably within a unionized or non-profit organization.
