MINIMUM QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
A legal qualification (i.e LLB) and admission as an Attorney or Advocate
At least 5 years relevant experience in an employment law environment

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
Members Rights
Write pleadings and appear on behalf of the PSA at Labour Court and High Court and other tribunals.
Represent members at LC and HC, write papers on behalf of PSA to be filed with the relevant court.
Attend and represent PSA in urgent applications.
Represent members (in disciplinary hearings) at SAPS and at conciliations and/or arbitrations at SSSBC.
To brief (and be instructing attorney) to counsel on matters for the HC, LAC, SCA or CC where directed.
Attend to all cases of legal practitioner cases in the State.
Members Interest
Providing legal opinions on interpretation and application of Collective Agreements.
Provide legal support on pension issues.
Provide legal support on industrial action matters.
Attend and represent PSA on enforcement of Collective Agreements.
To brief (and be instructing attorney) to counsel on Interest matters for the HC, LAC, SCA or CC where directed.
Domestic Labour Matters (HR)
Represent the PSA at grievance, disciplinary hearings, CCMA and other forums with regard to employee matters.
Act as PSA employer representative or Chairperson at disciplinary matters of employees.
Appeal authority when assigned by the General Manager.
Draft and provide legal opinions to the PSA and Board of Directors.
Assist with breach of contract matters such as motor vehicle loan contracts, study assistance contracts, breach of employment contracts, etc.
To brief (and be instructing attorney) to counsel on HR matters for the HC, LAC, SCA or CC where directed.
Handle all bills of costs and deal with taxation costs on behalf of PSA.
