DEPARTMENT: Legal & Compliance LOCATION: EDENVALE, JHB ACCOUNTABLE TO: Executive Head: Legal & Compliance POSITION TYPE: Permanent BENEFITS: In-house Medical Aid (50/50 contribution) ,Retirement Fund (50/50 contribution) JOB DESCRIPTION: This position entails maintaining and enhancing the legal strategy to ensure the company is provided with sound and professional legal guidance. DUTIES / KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Key skills include: o Strong background in commercial and insurance law; o Analytical and attentive to detail o Proven track record in providing effective legal counsel and developing contracts that mitigate legal risks o Serving as a legal resource and point of reference on legal and insurance matters, as well as rendering formal and informal legal opinions; o Maintaining legal contracts data base; o Draft, negotiate and review agreements; o Managing litigious matter on behalf of the company; o Instruct external legal counsel on various matters; o Sound understanding of relevant legislation and its impact on business strategy o Ability to identify and mitigate legal risks o Familiar with complaint handling process and corresponding with respective regulatory bodies o Interpersonally agile and strong at building relationships at all levels o Self-starter with the ability to work well independently o Ability to draft legal reports MINIMUM QUALIFICATION Grade 12 / Matric Admitted Attorney Post Graduate qualification would be advantageous 5 years post qualification experience EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED: Financial services background incl. direct exposure to financial legislation Minimum of 5 years experience within Financial Services or Insurance sector Experience or knowledge in Compliance with a focus on TCF, POPI, CPA, FAIS, FICA and Insurance legislation Sensitivity - Confidential Commercial law technical and drafting skills Interpersonal skills and strong character OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Solutions driven Attention to detail Energetic Ability to work under pressure Team player Accuracy Honesty Reliability Integrity Self-discipline Highly self-motivated Confident Good communication skills at all levels within the organisation Ability to effectively handle challenging situations Business initiative Strong administrative skills Clean credit and criminal records Own and live up to company values Application instructions: PEOPLE WITH A DISABILITY ARE ENCOURAGED TO APPLY Please send your updated MS Word CV, Matric certificate, and verification of disability to officebradshawleroux.co.za
