ROLE PROFILE: Legal Officer
Reports to: Managing Executive
ROLE OUTPUT
Assist with the development and maintenance of HR related policies
Contribute to development and implementation of HR strategy and programs
Assisting line managers to understand and implement policies and procedures
Interpreting and advising on Employment Laws
Drafting and/or revising various documents of legal nature, ensuring in particular that obligations stemming from legislation and regulations currently in force are complied with
Preparing of all paperwork for legal matters and legal advice
Tracking and timely updating the company on changes in law
Drafting and preparation of employee contracts, memorandums, and other documents as may be required to ensure compliance with relevant laws
Advising and representing the company in labour related disputes and cases
Supporting the company in human resource management and organizational development
Provides legal expertise, support, and advice to all organizational levels on matters related to labour legislation and labour relations practices
Manages the administration of the grievance and grievance resolution process including appropriate mechanism in conflict resolution
Participates in regular Management meetings
Facilitates alternative dispute and conflict resolution approaches for issues of concern identified by the Senior Management team
Support the development, implementation, and management of effective procedures for employee orientation and initial training
KEY SKILLS REQUIRED
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
Development, interpretation and implementation of HR policies
Knowledge and experience in employee relations / labour law
Labour law qualification (Post Grd-12)
Interpretation and implementation of Labour legislation
Handling of disciplinary matters / hearings and grievances
HR qualification an advantage
Training & skills development principles and processes
Regulatory reporting
Min 5yrs experience at management level
Knowledge of CCMA & Labour Court processes
Proficiency in MS Office
Previous experience in similar role
Problem solving skills
Familiarity with conducting data analysis and reporting statistics
Communication skills
