The Legal and Compliance Counsel, Africa, will serve as a strategic and commercial legal and compliance advisor within Sandvik Rock Processing Solutions. This individual will play a key role in the Africa Sales Areas, ensuring sound legal and compliance practices within the organization. The role will further encompass supporting the business's growth and development through providing comprehensive legal advice, assessing and mitigating risks, and managing various legal disciplines.Legal Counsel will work closely with the BA General Counsel and other key stakeholders to ensure that legal support is aligned with strategic initiatives and major projects initiated by BA and Divisions management.The job responsibilities:Assess and mitigate key risks in line with the Sandvik Way.Coordinate legal and compliance work across the Africa sales areas and provide necessary support and advice across the SRP organization in Africa.Facilitate legal and compliance integration in line with the company's expansion.Manage a variety of commercial agreements, negotiations, legal documents, correspondence, and governance.Provide legal training, integrate and implement the BA processes and tools to support business.Manage disputes and ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and Sandvik Group and BA Legal and Compliance policies and procedures.Occasionally support matters related to corporate governance, data privacy, financing, competition law, and IT and digital law.Play an active role in the creation, implementation, and enhancement of Sandvik's compliance program, including anti-corruption, anti-bribery, and data privacy initiatives.Work proactively with the business teams to understand their needs and provide legally sound, clear, and practical advice to meet business objectives while managing and mitigating associated legal risks.Keep up to date with changes in regulatory legislation and guidelines, and interpret laws, rulings, and regulations that could impact the company.Contribute to the strategic legal decisions involving the company's structure and legal rights and obligations.Qualifications & Experience RequirementsDegree in law (LLB or equivalent).At least 5 years' experience gained within a top tier law firm and/or an in-house Legal function of a multinational company.Corporate transactional experience including mergers and acquisitions will be considered favorably.Experience in managing external legal costs effectively.Other Requirements & CompetenciesThe role will appeal to candidates who have maturity and initiative and a desire to use their experience to support the business and BA SRP in all aspects of legal and risk issues.Experience in analysis of complex issues and risk management.
