Legal Counsel

Qualification/s Required: Law degree and admission in the relevant jurisdiction (South Africa).

Experience Required: • Minimum 5 years' post-admission commercial law experience in negotiating, drafting, and vetting commercial agreements including software, technology, digital services and Intellectual Property transactions and agreements.
• Broad risk management (including regulatory and compliance) and corporate governance experience.

Responsibilities  Ensuring that the business enters into commercial arrangements (including ICT and IP) on terms that are acceptable to the company and which reflect best practices and appropriately manage risksProviding appropriate legal advice to the business regarding the Group's rights and obligations under corporate and commercial arrangements (including ICT and IP) and related legal mattersEnsure internal clients receive appropriate advice when disputes ariseManaging external law firm relationships, engagements and costsProvide accurate, timely, commercial advice in plain EnglishEnsure deadlines are strictly adhered toWork actively and productively as a team member including willingly sharing your expertise with others and clarifying the tasks assigned to you
