Overview
We are looking for applicants with an interest in development and project finance in the energy sector to join our Project Development and Finance Department.
Key responsibilities
•Due diligence investigations, risk analysis and co-ordination thereof;
•Drafting and negotiating financing agreements;
•Critically analyse complex commercial contracts, permits, and licences that frame the terms under which the underlying project will operate;
•Supporting and participating in the legal and commercial negotiations of the terms and conditions of the financing agreements and project documents with financiers and other parties;
•Co-ordinate CP processes and the analysis and assimilation of the documents provided in satisfaction of the CP's;
•Preparation of documents including ad hoc advisory work, credit papers, ratings papers, briefs, client communications, presentations and bid documents/ fee quotes and proposals.
Key requirements
•Admitted attorney (commercial qualification would be beneficial);
•At least 2 years PQE;
•Excellent drafting skills;
•Good attention to detail;
•Good time management;
•Always puts in a thorough effort;
•Ability to receive instruction from senior instructing attorney and carry out instructions effectively;
•Client facing experience, communications skills and the ability to understand and respond effectively to client needs. Always puts the client first;
•A commercial approach and an ability to negotiate effectively;
•A collaborative attitude to working within large teams (internally and externally).
The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to understand the subject matter of project development and project finance and its many facets and nuances. The candidate should have a good work ethic and be hard working and diligent. Be able to communicate effectively in a team structure. Be able to manage client relations and be able put the client first and always be responsive. In addition, the candidate must be smart, eloquent, achievement-oriented, takes pride in their work and is focused and able to work well under pressure in a deadline driven environment. The candidate must be a team player but also be able to complete tasks independently, timeously and efficiently without micro-management.
