Stadio offers a variety of academic and career-focused undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications through both contact and distance learning modes of delivery.Stadio is a comprehensive private higher education institution, consisting of the following academic schools:Administration and ManagementArchitecture and EngineeringCommerceEducationFashionHumanitiesInformation TechnologyLawMedia and DesignPolicing and Law EnforcementKey Roles and Responsibilities:Lecturing:Preparing and delivering regular lectures for students.Guiding class discussions, whilst encouraging debate and feedback amongst students.Assisting with developing academic content and preparation of course materials where able and necessary.Attending quarterly meetings as required by the Management Team.Maintaining a practical understanding of service standards & quality improvement initiatives relevant to your department.Engaging in professional development as appropriate.Engaging in research and developing new topics, courses and teaching materials.Acting as the potential module coordinator (mc) for specific modules.MC Tasks:Preparation of the module outline for accreditation submission.Preparation/updating (including module review)/authoring/coordination of new and existing material (including lesson plans and teaching materials).Maintaining the core VLE environment (including student surveys) for the module to ensure parity of content and offering across sites of delivery.Preparing/finalizing all the assessments for the module.Drafting the assessment strategy (in consultation with the Lecturers Forum) and maintaining the Assessment Guideline document.Conducting or arranging internal moderation – pre- and post – of all assessments.Managing the external moderation process (pre- and post-assessment).Quality assurance of the module content and offering.Action module-specific outcomes from student surveys.First-level sign-off of the marks for the module and presentation to next level.Conducting success and throughput analysis for the module.Promoting industry liaison for the module.Finalizing the academic calendar for the module.The Module coordinator has a FUNCTIONAL role. S/he is responsible for setting the criteria for RPL approval.Administration:Taking register before every class (done digitally).Preparing lesson plans, guided by the study guide provided.Compiling class tests, practical assignments, formal test and exam papers.Completing all marking of assignments, tests and exams within the necessary time.Minimum Requirements:Experience with lecturing in a contact learning and online environment, using electronic learning management systems as well as video conferencing, like MS Teams and Zoom.Minimum three years relevant industry experience.Ability to write and edit assignments, test and exam papers in English.Experience and Exposure to the Following Software:Adobe PhotoshopAdobe IllustratorAdobe InDesignSpecialization in: Graphic Design or Visual Communication.Qualifications and Experience:NQF 8 or higher: Relevant master's or honours degree in graphic web design, visual communication design or photography.Key Attributes:Sound knowledge of graphic design - This knowledge allows the candidate to confidently explain concepts and processes to students.Knowledge in Adobe Creative Cloud (Specifically Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign).Knowledge in print production and design theory.Knowledge in both film and digital photography.Knowledge and understanding of a studio environment and working with studio lighting.Basic understanding of marketing and business principles.Engaging with students - serves as a facilitator of learning, providing students with the knowledge and tools to solve problems and then encouraging students to solve them on their own.Good motivator - inspire a love of design in students.Constantly learning to update own knowledge base - learn, reflect, and improve own practice.Caring for students that struggle with difficult concepts.Teaching strategies specific for Visual Communication Design students - adjust teaching strategies to reflect the learning styles of individual students or the class as a whole.Excellent attention to detail.Excellent analytical skills.Excellent English language skills.Can-do attitude.Passion for education.Ability to work under tight deadlines.
