The Wits School of Education seeks to appoint a suitable candidate at Lecturer /Senior Lecturer level in Visual Arts Education (as part of the Foundation Studies Division) to contribute to the School's initial teacher education and postgraduate programmes, research and community engagement activities.
Qualifications and Experience:
The successful candidate must meet the following criteria to be appointed:
Lecturer:
PhD in Visual Arts Education
Ability to contribute to curriculum innovation and design and in the implementation of courses in Visual arts/ Creative Arts and Design; Research creation/Creative research/ arts-based research methods.
Expertise in the areas of Primary school and High School art education
Experience in teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in Higher Education would be an advantage
Knowledge, skills, and expertise in a range of arts pedagogies for creative education as well as for integration with core subjects in Primary school levels and enquiry-based approaches across the range of schooling from Grade R to Matric.
Willingness to supervise undergraduate and postgraduate (PGCE) students on Teaching Experience.
Evidence of research ability or potential (a publication record would be an advantage).
Capacity to supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students at tertiary level.
The ability to work in a team.
Senior Lecturer:
PhD in Visual Arts Education
Ability to take a leading role in curriculum innovation and design and in the implementation of courses in Visual arts/ Creative Arts and Design; Research creation/Creative research/ arts-based research methods.
Expertise in the areas of Primary school and High School art education
A track record of competent teaching in the disciplinary area at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in Higher Education
Knowledge, skills, and expertise in a range of arts pedagogies for integration with core subjects in Primary school levels and enquiry-based approaches across the range of schooling from Grade R to Matric.
Willingness to supervise undergraduate and postgraduate (PGCE) students on Teaching Experience.
Evidence of research ability or potential (a publication record would be an advantage).
Capacity to supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students at tertiary level.
The ability to work in a team.
An independent research profile and proven publication and/or creative production record in arts-related research practice.
A sustained record of research supervision in the arts and arts education.
