CORE PURPOSE OF JOB The Department of Psychology is looking for a qualified, experienced Psychometrist, who is registered with the HPCSA as a Psychometrist in independent practice.
The incumbent must have expert knowledge in the field of psychometry and will be expected to facilitate and administer the teaching and learning of students in modules that they will present.
The person will be expected to do research, supervise undergraduate and/ post graduate students, contribute to community engagement and to professionally participate in the core functions of the Department and the University.
In addition, responsibilities will include the facilitation of the Psychometry Programme of Equivalence as well as participation in departmental administrative, academic
and committee duties.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS Lecturing and taking full responsibility for various modules (both theoretical and practical components) according to the needs of the DepartmentResponsible for the co-ordination and handling of all professional administrative tasks related to the Psychometry programme of equivalence;Assist with research in the department and supervision of senior undergraduate and post-graduate students in research;Clinical supervision of psychometry students;Assist with academic and operational administration, including development work and engagement activities;Study towards a doctoral degree.CORE COMPETENCIES Show evidence of eligibility to undertake postgraduate study at doctoral level.Show an ability to conduct research which explores the usefulness of psychometric tests, psychometric properties, norms, development, adaptation, and write articles;Excellent knowledge of theory and application of psychometry;Experience in facilitating the learning of students in theoretical and practical components of Psychology;Good teaching skills and experience in facilitating learning (online and in-contact);Good relationships with students, staff, and external stakeholders;Excellent communication and negotiation skills;Strong administrative skills;Ability to compile student guides and manuals;Ability to use computer based assessments and internet based testing. POST REQUIREMENTS Masters degree in Psychology or equivalent;An accredited four (4) year Bachelors degree in Psychology (BPsych) or a BPsych Equivalent in Psychology or related Psychology field (e.g.
Industrial or Educational Psychology) that incorporates an approved 6 month or 720-hour face-to-face practicum in Psychometry.Registration with the HPCSA as an independent Psychometrist for a minimum of 3 years and currently active;Excellent knowledge base in Psychometry.APPLICANT INFORMATION Please note that no late applications will be accepted.
