North-West University (Potchefstroom Campus)Faculty/Division: Faculty of EngineeringPosition Number: P001000Vacancy: LecturerRemuneration: Commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with NWU policy guidelines.Employment Type: PermanentThe North-West University invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the following position, which forms part of the New Generation of Academics Programme (nGAP) of the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET). Preference will be given to applications from black (African, Coloured and Indian), female and disabled candidates, with a target that at least 80% of applicants should be appointed from these groups. Applicants must be SA citizens and 40 years or younger of age.The nGAP represents the eighth phase of the Staffing South African Universities Framework (SSAUF) approved in 2015 as an initiative to improve the academic staffing capacity of South African universities. The programme aims to address the urgent need to recruit, support, and retain black (African, Coloured and Indian), female academic and disabled staff to contribute to the transformation of the academic staff profile in disciplines of greatest need.Key Responsibilities:Teaching:Preparation of study guides and subject materialDelivery of lectures and practical sessionsMarking and assessmentsGeneral module administrationFinal Year Supervision:Topic selection and general guidance to studentsLiaising with external clientsFrequent project meetings with studentsResearch:Conduct research towards own qualificationSupervision of postgraduate studentsInvolvement in professional/academic societiesSchool Administration:Involvement in Engineering SchoolsRepresentation on Faculty-specific committeesDesired Experience & Qualification:A B.Eng / BSc Eng qualification recognised by ECSA (NQF level 8).An M.Eng in Industrial Engineering OR M.Eng with some industrial engineering exposure (NQF level 9).The master's degree must be achieved with an average of 70% or above.
