Medical Aid rate based on principal member only): To be confirmedAdvert Closing Date: 8/12/2024Job Purpose:To support the department in pursuit of its academic objectives which include teaching on the Dental Assisting and Dental Technology programmes, undertake research, contribute to curriculum development as well as engagement in work-integrated learning and community engagement activities. Meeting core academic expectations to facilitate the delivery of the Dental Assisting and Dental Technology programmes offered in the department, as well as perform all related academic, research, and administrative tasks associated with the academic role, department, faculty, and institution.Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience:A Master's degree in a health-related field with an undergraduate degree in the Dental field (Dentistry, Dental Therapy, Oral Hygiene, or related).Registration and good standing with the HPCSA.At least two (2) years of relevant lecturing experience in Higher Education and/or five (5) years of professional work experience in the Dental Field.Preference will be given to candidates who meet the minimum requirements at Lecturer level.Recommendations:Qualification in Dental Assisting.Evidence of progress towards completion of a Doctoral qualification.Academic experience at a higher education institution.Recent track record of research supervision and research outputs.Postgraduate teaching qualification.A Bachelor's degree or Post Graduate qualification in a health-related field with an undergraduate qualification in the dental field (Dentistry, Dental Therapy, Oral Hygiene or related).Registration and good standing with the HPCSA.At least one (1) year relevant lecturing experience in Higher Education and/or five (5) years of professional work experience in the Dental field.The appointment at Junior Lecturer level is a 5-year contract subject to completion of master's degree qualification within this period.
