LEADERSHIP Participate in the leadership / adminstrative activities of the Physics Subject Group and the Centre for Space Research
Minimum requirements PhD in Astrophysics / Astronomy / Space Physics / Material Physics 2 years' teaching and learning experience at undergraduate and postgraduate level 1 year post-graduate supervison and training experience 2 years' experience as an active researcher
KEY FUNCTIONAL / TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES: Research interests should align with the scope of the Centre for Space Research (CSR): Radio / Optical / Gamma-ray Astronomy / Cosmic-ray Physics / Heliospheric / Space Physics / Material Sciences for Space Applications. Record of postgraduate student supervision Record of successfully applying for research funding will be beneficial. Leadership and outreach (community engagement) experience will be beneficial. Demonstrable theoretical / modelling / experimental physics expertise. Teaching experience in undergraduate and postgraduate physics context.Excellent problem solving skills Excellent computer skills Knowledge of the higher education system Demonstrate language proficiency to function optimally in the multilingual environment of the NWU
