The nGAP aims to improve the academic staffing capacity of South African universities and address the under-representation of designated groups in the academic sector.PURPOSE OF THE POSITIONThe nGAP position in the School of Economic Sciences is part of the SSAUF initiative by the DHET to improve academic staffing. nGAP employees will participate in a six-year developmental programme on a permanent full-time basis under the University's normal conditions of service and will work under the supervision of an appointed mentor.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Teaching and Learning:Conduct tutorials, practical classes, demonstrations, workshops, student field excursions, clinical sessions, and studio sessions.Initiate and develop subject material.Development and Supervision:Prepare and deliver lectures and seminars.Supervise the programme of study of honours or postgraduate students.Research and Innovation:Supervise major honours or postgraduate research projects.Conduct research and be involved in professional activity.Start/continue with own PhD.Development of Course:Develop course material with support from senior employees.Marking and assessment.Consultation with students.Desired Experience & QualificationMaster's degree in Macro-Economics / International Trade (NQF level 9).The Master's degree must be achieved with an average of 70% or above.
