Job Purpose: Applications are specifically invited for teaching in the field of natural and physical sciences education in the Intermediate Phase. Candidates with specific skills in the teaching of physical sciences and life sciences as part of Intermediate Phase Education on the Wellington Campus are encouraged to apply.
Note: The position is based at the Wellington Campus where tuition is in Afrikaans. Candidates must be able to teach in Afrikaans.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience: A Master's degree relevant to the teaching of Natural and Physical Science.A relevant teaching qualification in Natural and Physical Science Education.Natural and/or Physical Science as a major subject at undergraduate level.Two (2) years relevant lecturing experience at tertiary level or five (5) years relevant teaching experience at school level.Competence in the pedagogy of Natural- and Physical Sciences integration in learning, teaching, and assessment.Fluency in English and Afrikaans (BEd tuition in Wellington is through Afrikaans).Recommendations: Relevant research output.Key Performance Areas / Principal Accountabilities: Teaching Methodology of Natural Sciences and Physical Sciences in the Intermediate and Senior/FET Phase.Curriculum development and other learning materials.Supervising students on teaching practice.Research and involvement in research activities (publications and supervision).Academic administration and development.Adequate content and pedagogical content knowledge.Assessment and Quality Assurance.Good work ethics and ability to manage work.Learning support for and in multilingual classrooms.Mentoring and support of students (and staff).Teamwork and collaboration.Strong learner focus.Meticulous planning and organizing skills/Time Management.Networking with schools and other networks.Ability to align yourself to hybrid teaching and learning models (face-to-face and online learning).Perform other functions as may be assigned by the Head of Department.Excellent teaching skills.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Coaching, mentoring and support for learners.Good administrative and organizational skills (record keeping, etc.).Continuous learning/Professional development.Ability to work in a team and independently.Technical and Professional Knowledge and skills.General Information: For enquiries and assistance with your online application, please contact Ms. Viwe Lalela, Human Capital Department at ****** or 021 460 3351.
