Job Purpose
To support the faculty and department in pursuit of its academic and research objectives whichinclude teaching according to a set syllabus; undertake projects, research and innovation; performacademic administration, contribute to curriculum development and design; engage in work integratedlearning, Open Day to recruit students, and service-learning activities.
To take responsibility for the effective and efficient coordination of Work-Integrated-Learning(WIL) programs and student placement while ensuring that students are supported and successfullycomplete the programs.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience
• A master's degree in media and/or Communication or related discipline (The candidate must obtainthe relevantundergraduate underpinning qualification(s) within the field of study)
• At least two (2) years' lecturing experience in this field in higher education environment
Recommendations
• Industry/Higher Education work experience in facilitating and coordinating learning programs
• Knowledge and experience of the WIL landscape in the South African Higher Education Sector
Key Performance Areas / Principal Accountabilities
• Teaching, training and student counselling on WIL
• Lecturer Business Management
• Develop, manage and promote the Media Departments Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) programsParticipate in curriculum and programme development
• Perform appropriate academic and administrative duties
• Take responsibility for placement of students in the Department
• Assess experiential learning projects and writing reports on students' performances
• Participate in the Quality Assurance activities
• Student and industry liaison, including - Student Forum and Industry Advisory Board meetings
• Monitoring of WIL
• Work effectively with Faculty WIL Coordinator and the Institutional WIL Department
• Contribute to research outputs through participation in research activities
• Develop and maintain linkages with industry and professional bodies WIL and research projects
• Assist with marketing and recruitment activities (incl.- Career Day and Open Day Events)
• Perform other functions as may be assigned by the Head of Department
