Job Purpose The objective is to fill the position of Mathematics lecturer in the IP Department with a staff member with expertise in this area. Please note that the position is based at the Wellington Campus where tuition is in Afrikaans. Candidates must be able to teach in Afrikaans. Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience A Master's degree relevant to the teaching of Mathematics, Mathematical Literacy, or Mathematics Education. A relevant teaching qualification relevant to the field of Mathematics, Mathematical Literacy or Mathematics Education. Mathematics or Mathematics Literacy as a major at undergraduate level. At least two (2) years' relevant lecturing experience at tertiary level or five (5) years' relevant experience in Intermediate Phase (IP) phase at school level. Specialized knowledge of methodologies of teaching Mathematics, Mathematical Literacy or Mathematics Education. Fluency in English and Afrikaans - B.Ed tuition at Wellington is Afrikaans. Recommendations A relevant doctoral degree. Evidence of research outputs and supervision. Key Performance Areas / Principal Accountabilities Teaching Mathematics and Mathematical Literacy in the IP and Foundation Phase departments. Curriculum development and other learning materials. Supervising students on teaching practice. Research and involvement in research activities (publications and supervision). Academic administration, development, and administration. Assessment and quality assurance. Networking with schools and other networks. Community engagement. Coaching and mentoring of students and staff. Learner focus and learner support in multilingual classrooms. Meticulous planning and organizing skills. Ability to align yourself to hybrid teaching and learning models (face-to-face and online learning). Perform other ad hoc functions as may be assigned by the head of department.
