(The candidate must obtain the relevant undergraduate underpinning qualification(s) within the field of study)At least two (2) years' lecturing experience in this field in higher education.RecommendationsExperience in Business Reporting will be an added advantage.A working knowledge of software used in practice such as InDesign will be an advantage.A doctoral qualification will be an added advantage.Key Performance Areas / Principal AccountabilitiesLecturing subjects in the Journalism curriculum, in particular Business Reporting, Editorial Management and Political Reporting and subjects at the level of the postgraduate Diploma in Media Leadership and Innovation and the Masters programme.Manage and design the curriculum in Political and Business Reporting, Editorial Management and Media Leadership and Innovation.Design, initiate and manage projects across the programme and department.Perform appropriate academic and administrative duties (including the effective Management of Marks Administration).Participate in the Quality Assurance activities of the Department.Participate in research in any areas of the Media but in particular Political and Business Reporting.Contribute to community initiatives by integrating community interventions into curriculum.Develop and maintain linkages with industry and professional bodies on co-operative education, new techniques/technologies, and research projects.Take the lead in managing marketing and recruitment activities.Develop partnerships with other institutions in higher education and industry for the purposes of knowledge interchange and collaboration on project-based learning and research.Perform other functions as may be assigned by the Head of Department.Excellent Communication Skills (reading, writing and speaking).Good organizing & planning skills.Ability to work independently.Good Technical/Professional knowledge.Interpersonal Skills.Strong Learner focus.Coaching & mentoring Skills.Aptitude for continuous Learning.A positive attitude and a willingness to contribute to the growth and development of the Media Department.Knowledge about South African and international Political and Economic Landscape; A good track record in Political and Economic Reporting.Knowledge and experience in Editorial Management and Design.Ability to work on software such as InDesign and Publisher.Good time management.Ability to manage projects independently.General InformationClosing Date: 03 November 2024NB: PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS SYSTEM DOES NOT ALLOW APPLICANTS TO UPLOAD CVs.
