Job Title: Faculty Department: Business and Management Sciences Campus/Location: All CPUT Campuses, ZA Job Type: Permanent Number of Positions: 1 Annual Salary Package: To be confirmed Advert Closing Date: 1/12/2024 Job Purpose: Teach allocated subjects in Diploma: HRM and Advanced Diploma: HRD according to the syllabus; ensure content is regularly updated, relevant to workplace context, compliant with SABPP HR standards and innovative in the HR discipline. The subjects allocated to this post are: Business Studies 1 and Project Design in Human Resources Development 4 to undergraduate and postgraduate students to ensure a full-time workload. Contribute to academic initiatives undertaken by the department and faculty to enhance teaching and learning environment. Supervise and manage department postgraduate students. Support the Faculty research initiatives through undertaking research and contribution towards group research.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience: Master's degree (NQF level 9) in Human Resource Management or related fields including Industrial/Organisational Psychology, Human Resource Development and Labour Relations.Underpinning NQF Level 8 (Honours/Postgraduate Diploma or equivalent) in Human Resource Management or related fields.Minimum 2-years teaching experience within a higher education environment.Evidence of postgraduate supervision and publications.Recommended: Knowledge and experience of hybrid teaching and learning models (face-to-face and online learning).Knowledge of the higher education landscape in SA.South African Board of People Practices (SABPP) professional registration.Key Performance Areas / Principal Accountabilities: Accreditation: Adhere to Council of Higher Education accreditation policy and procedures. Contribute to department and subject quality assurance through committee meetings and submission of relevant documents. Monitor the impact of QA recommendations within the department and implement appropriate interventions.
Academic Development: Design, develop and continuously update HR discipline curriculum. Contribute to curriculum development of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Participate in curriculum review to ensure alignment with industry and professional standards.
Assessments: Revise teaching, learning and assessment methods. Compile and conduct student assessments. Evaluate and moderate assessments for improvements. Identify at-risk students and implement appropriate interventions. Report on subject pass rates and participate in subject reviews. Conduct peer evaluation and provide support where necessary. Evaluate and recommend prescribed textbooks.
Administration: Assist with the registration of students. Administer student attendance registrar, assessment records, uploading students' results and verifying end of year marks. Examine and moderate assessments and examinations. Conduct group tutor meetings. Contribute towards control of student records and examination enrolments.
Human Resources Management: Participate in the department staff planning, recruitment and selection process. Assist in coordinating staff induction and development opportunities. Participate in updating departmental job descriptions, implementing the University performance management system and identify training needs for career development. Assist in managing staff relations, staff records and conducting departmental meetings.
Internal/External Liaison: Liaise with prospective students and market the HRM programmes and the university as a whole. Liaise with commerce and industry on Experiential Training, new techniques/technologies and research projects. Regular industry liaison to determine the latest trends, practices and procedures for incorporation in curriculum. Regular subject meetings to coordinate subject activities and to manage any student complaints. Project a professional image while representing the department and university at committees, outside bodies, local and international conferences.
Mentoring: Contribute to staff academic development and career pathing. Provide guidance and support in developing learning materials and related activities. Assist with presentation of seminars and workshops. Mentor and assist academics in subject fields.
Personal/Professional Development: Attend conferences, seminars and training sessions to keep abreast with developments in the HR discipline, and communicate the implications for curriculum development at subject meetings. Continuous professional development both inside and outside the university. SABPP membership. Gradually build and grow human relations, leadership skills and administrative tasks in order to develop and accept more high-level responsibilities.
Research: Conduct research and disseminate findings in HR discipline. Lecture and supervise postgraduate students. Contribute and manage group research projects. Publish research articles and present at conferences. Keep abreast of professional literature.
Teaching and Learning: Lecture both undergraduate and postgraduate subjects. Compile subject guides in compliance with University rules. Set annual objectives pertaining to academic subjects and review teaching and learning practices. Design and implement appropriate teaching methods, practices and technologies to ensure student success. Develop learning materials for students. Assist students with problems in learning situations and appointment of tutors/mentors. Motivate students towards their full potential, developing professional attitudes and positive career pathing. Workload allocation may change according to departmental/faculty needs as determined by Head of Department.
