Job description

To teach, facilitate learning, conduct and publish research, and supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students per the University, Faculty, and department strategy.


Responsibilities:



Teach using diverse methods across all student levels, integrate module content through academic involvement, develop and reflect on a personal teaching philosophy, innovate in teaching, learning, and assessment approaches, and continually enhance teaching and learning skills.
Develop course proposals, contribute to the identification and revision of modules, courses, and programs, and participate in accreditation and quality control processes.
Set and assess work per university standards; supervise student projects, dissertations, and PhD students; provide advice and support related to modules; and provide mentorship.
Contribute to the department's research strategy, pursuing original research objectives, conducting individual or collaborative research projects, maintaining updated knowledge, translating advances into course study, and contributing to the development of theory and practice in the field.
Write proposals for research funding, contribute to team grant submissions, maintain and secure funding, identify and undertake consultancy projects, publish and disseminate research through various channels, and contribute to patents and commercial applications as appropriate.
Take responsibility for organizing personal activities and managing resources, contribute to the wider organization as a module leader, participate in student recruitment, and represent the department on faculty and university committees.
Liaise with industry and community organizations, provide disciplinary advice to professional and community bodies, serve as an external journal peer reviewer and examiner, actively engage in local community networks, and contribute proactively to conferences and workshops beyond mere attendance.






Minimum requirements




M.Tech/MHSc (NQF Level 9) in Chiropractic.
Registration with the AHPCSA in chiropractic.
Minimum of three (3) years' experience in clinical practice.
Expertise in relevant approaches and methods of teaching including blended teaching methods.
It may be expected from shortlisted candidates to do a presentation to the faculty and its stakeholders on a topic determined by the Optometry department.
A good track record of teaching and research with the relevant specialty of chiropractic.
