Job description
The Department of Civil Engineering Science has a vacant position of a Lecturer.
Responsibilities:
Present lectures to Undergraduate and Honours Students;
Develop new course/module material as well as practical guides for undergrad, Honours, Short Learning Programmes (SLPs);
Participate in research production and supervision of undergraduate, Honours, and Postgraduate students in the department/Faculty;
Participate in voluntary associations and/or professional bodies;
Engage in department administration activities.
Minimum requirements
MSc in Civil Engineering or a closely related (NQF 9 or equivalent);
A minimum of one to two years' teaching experience at a tertiary institution, or evidence of research outputs (at least 0.5 units on accredited journals);
Undergraduate supervision and presentations at national or international conferences.
Registered with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) or must undertake to do so within six (6) months of joining the department.
A minimum of one-year industrial experience.
Competencies and Behavioural Attributes:
Good communication skills (written and verbal with high level of proficiency in English)
Good oral communication in at least one other language
Good planning and organisational skills
Computer literacy including MS Office (MS Word and Excel)
