The IIE Varsity College, Cape Town Campus is seeking an Independent Contractor - Lecturer to strengthen the teaching and learning capacity in the School of Engineering for Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering – BEng Civil for the 2025 academic year: Semester 1 Geotechnical EngineeringRural and Urban InfrastructureStructural EngineeringWater EngineeringCivil Engineering DesignSociety and PracticeEngineering MaterialsKey Performance Areas: Preparation and conducting of lectures, tutorials, workshops, and seminarsProviding study guidance, learning support, consultation, and mentoring of studentsInitiation and development of module materials, including online and web-based materialsMarking and grading of student assessmentsModule coordination and quality assuranceA range of administrative functions connected to the discipline and modules being taughtInvolvement in relevant committees, workshops, task groups, and other activitiesOther duties commensurate to the position as required.Other Job Requirements: Demonstrated capability to lecture, conduct tutorials, and seminars at tertiary level in an effective manner in the core courses stipulated at the highest academic levelExpertise in e-learning programs such as Blackboard and MoodleUp-to-date knowledge of curriculum areas being taught at the highest academic levelDemonstrated capacity to design, set, and evaluate assessments at the appropriate level for the courses stipulatedHigh level of communication skills in verbal, written, and electronic modesProven high-level administrative abilities.Minimum Qualification Requirements: Master's degree in the specified discipline/s.Minimum Work Experience Requirements: 3 years' lecturing experience in a similar higher education role at a tertiary institution.Working Conditions: This is an Independent Contractor rolePositions are part-time, with lectures taking place between 08:00 and 18:00.Must reside in Cape TownDue to the volume of CVs received, we may not be able to personally contact all applicants.
