This includes contributing to academic initiatives undertaken by the faculty to enhance teaching and learning, promoting entrepreneurship learning according to community needs, and supporting and expanding programmes for co-operative education. The role also involves supporting faculty research initiatives through undertaking research and contributing towards group research.This post will also be responsible for raising the standard of scholarship and research in the Department of Information Technology by initiating research projects, providing mentorship for junior staff members, and supervising postgraduate students. The incumbent will perform all academic functions, including teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, supervising students, community engagement, curriculum development, academic administration, and conducting research.Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience:A relevant Master's Degree in Information Technology / Computer Science / or any related discipline in Computing (A relevant Doctoral Degree will be an added advantage).At least two (2) years' relevant lecturing experience in Higher Education.Recommendations:At least two (2) years exposure to program management and curriculum development.At least 1 publication in an accredited journal or conference proceedings in the last two years.The candidate must show expertise in Applications Development: Programming Paradigms and Languages (Modern programming languages like: Java, Python, PHP, R, C++, C#), Data Storage Technologies like DBMS and NoSQL, Backend Development Technologies in Big Data and AI environment, Software Build tools like Maven, Gradle, Ivy or any other.Key Performance Areas / Principal Accountabilities:Lecture at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in the IT discipline.Supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate research projects.Provide appropriate academic and administrative leadership in the Department.Participate and contribute in academic development, curriculum development initiatives, courseware development, and assessment.Participate in research activities of the Department.Develop and lead research in the Department.Participate in the Quality Assurance activities of the Department.Monitor and assess work integrated learning.Coaching and mentoring of staff & students.Develop and maintain linkages with industry and professional bodies and promote community participation.Maximize education and research opportunities for the Department and the Faculty.Contribute towards the development of academic staff.Assist with marketing and recruitment activities.Perform other functions as may be assigned by the Head of Department.Professional Knowledge and Skills:Extensive industry and disciplinary knowledge.Good teaching, research, and academic writing expertise.Excellent interpersonal skills.Leadership and people management skills.Adaptability and ability to work in a team.Strong learner focus and interpersonal skills.Coaching and mentoring skills.Reflective organizational and planning skills.Build strong partnerships.Sound technical skills in IT e.g. coding in modern programming languages / systems design / data wrangling / data analytics supported by evidence of contributions to open source repositories like GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket or any other publicly accessible repositories.Ability to use contemporary software tools for problem solving.General Information:Closing Date: 20 October 2024NB: PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS SYSTEM DOES NOT ALLOW APPLICANTS TO UPLOAD CVs.
