Leather Sorter

We are seeking a detail-oriented Leather Sorter to join our Weylandts Upholstery Division. The ideal candidate will be responsible for inspecting, sorting, and categorizing various types of leather to ensure quality and consistency for our production team.

This position will be based in Epping, Cape Town.
Main Accountabilities include but are not limited to: Inspect leather hides or skins for quality, defects, damage and/or imperfections.Identified defective or unusable leather to be removed.Sort and categorize leather based on texture, quality and thickness.Separate leather by colour, finish, or treatment (e.g., aniline, semi-aniline, pigmented).Measure and weigh leather hides or skins.Maintain an organized workspace and inventory of the sorted leather materials.Follow quality control procedures to ensure accurate sorting, issuing into production daily as required by the job etc.Collaborate with production staff to meet business needs and ensure efficient processing.Stay up to date with industry standards and grading systems.Technical and Behavioural Skills: MatricPrevious experience in leather handling – ideally in a Tannery environment.Attention to detail, good eye and feel for the different types of leather materials.Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
