This multi-skilled Learning Designer will also assist with curriculum development (micro and short courses), and will assist with compiling clear and detailed briefs for freelance learning designers who work on short courses and occupational qualifications, in alignment with curriculum outlines and with guidance from the Programme Development Manager. As the Learning Designer you will assist the Programme Development Manager with project management from the briefing phase through to completion and will work closely with subject matter experts (Red & Yellow faculty), Academic Content Editor, Learning Technologist, and other in-house Learning Designers to ensure that projects remain on track and are executed efficiently, and will organise and maintain all learning design project folders and documentation. You will be part of a dynamic and fast-paced environment, working with cross-functional teams to create learning experiences and assist with project management in support of Red & Yellow's vision and strategy.This is an exciting opportunity for a Learning Designer who has a project management mindset to showcase their talent, take on responsibility for learning design and project management assistance, and approach all learning design projects with vigour, enthusiasm, creativity and intelligent humility.Key Responsibilities and Duties:Create engaging learning content for micro courses, short courses, and longer occupational qualifications.Craft formative and summative assessments that are constructively aligned with learning outcomes and course content.Engage with professionals in various fields, as well as with seasoned Red & Yellow faculty - to learn from them and distil their expertise into accessible short course outlines and content, and occupational programmatic materials.With the guidance of the Programme Development Manager and Academic Programme Designer, create micro and short course outlines.Assist with project managing the creation and build of interactive content (including instructional narratives, scripts and storyboards) for new short courses/learning programmes by freelance learning designers.Assist with the project management of updating existing short course and occupational qualification content in line with curriculum specifications.Assist the Programme Development Manager in compiling highly detailed briefs and templates for micro, short, and occupational course content creation, learning design, and assessment development.Assist the Programme Development Manager in briefing a pool of freelance learning designers.Assist the Programme Development Manager in project managing learning design projects from the briefing phase through to completion - this involves:project planning with the Programme Development Manager;project execution and monitoring;project risk management.Contribute to new course research.Assist the Programme Design Manager in creating and monitoring learning design project schedules, using a central dashboard; The production process involves briefing, content creation, content review, content builds in authoring software, filming, creating podcasts, and more.Organise and maintain project folders, including video libraries, storyboards, assessments, Articulate Rise builds, storyline files, and more.Qualifications and ExperienceMinimum, a degree (NQF 7), ideally with a focus on education.Minimum 2 years' experience as a learning designer / instructional designer.Excellent command of English (both written and verbal).Proficiency in Microsoft Excel / Google Sheets.Proficiency in Microsoft Word / Google Docs.Proficiency in authoring tools (specifically Articulate Rise).Additional Skills (Advantageous):Experience in project management for educational contexts (preferably in the EdTech context specifically).Graphic design skills.Teaching and presentation skills.Behavioural Competencies:Excellent administrative abilities.Meticulous attention to detail.Excellent English, written and verbal communication skills - with a specific focus on both academic writing skills and using plain English masterfully.Excellent verbal communication skills.Demonstrated leadership skills.Professionalism, patience and kindness.
