Appointments position/rank placement will be based on requirements for the rank.Ref No: 6339Closing Date: 25 Nov 2024OME: Energy OperationBusiness Unit: Energy Ops – Regional Ops & Asset Services, Emergency ManagementRole Category: MSPCity | Town: SecundaPrimary Reporting: Station CommanderAppointment of successful candidates will be done in line with the relevant MSP career path.Short Description / Purpose Of JobA Fire Fighter protects the Company assets, incl. legal partnership agreements, against the adverse consequences that may result from SHERQ related emergency incidents.Recruitment Description / Key AccountabilitiesApply SHE best practices during all activities pertaining to emergency management.Perform duties according to instruction.Partake in training to ensure mental and physical fitness in preparation for handling incidents.Participate in KPA and PDP discussions.Ensure performance against KPA's.Ensure own delivery on PDP actions.Work cooperatively with all stakeholders.React to emergency situations according to agreed time standards.Participate in plant emergency preparedness activities.Identify and propose improvements to emergency management activities.Identify and propose improvements in effectiveness and service delivery.Make suggestions and contributions to safety improvements.Participate in housekeeping activities.Formal EducationGrade 12 with mathematical literacy/equivalent or higherMedically fit, according to relevant Fire Fighter fitness level assessmentFire fighter 1 & 2 (NFPA 1001) - (Must)HPCSA Registered and current BAA (BLS) – (Must)HPCSA Registered and current ILS – (Wish)Hazmat awareness and operations (NFPA 1072/472) - (Must)The related courses/competencies stipulated according to the career path are relevant to the various Fire Fighting positions. A candidate will thus be placed in a specific rank based on years of experience and courses held currently by the individual considered for the position, this will be based on the requirements as stipulated in the relevant Sasol Policies and the Emergency Management career path for Fire Fighter in training up to Leading Fire Fighter level.Min Experience0-5 years relevant experienceThe position will be filled in line with the relevant approved MSP career guide.CompetenciesExecution capability: The underlying ability to execute a strategy/project or day to day workProblem Solving: Is a step-by-step process of defining a problem, searching for information, and testing a series of solutions until the problem is solved.
