Lead Technologist: Cosmetics Compliance will play a critical role in ensuring that TFG Beauty's product quality and compliance in terms of regulatory and legal requirements are met. This position reports to the Head of Quality and Compliance and is part of the Group Merchandise Procurement Division (GMP) and the Quality Assurance department.Key Responsibilities:The KPAs are listed below detailing why this role is so critical to the success of the TFG Beauty business and brand reputation:Regulatory Compliance:Develop and manage the compliance framework within TFG Beauty.Ensure products are safe, legal, responsibly sourced, and meet TFG's rules & policies and regulatory requirements.Ensure legal and regulatory compliance on product labelling.Scope systems to manage legal and regulatory requirements of products.Manage risk in the supply chains, from source, ingredients, raw materials, processing, manufacturing, and TFG's routes to market.Responsible for auditing outcomes.Support the delivery of the responsible sourcing agenda across the supply base.Safety Assurance:Verify that ingredients are safe and used within regulated limits.Ensure all testing is conducted to issue a Certificate of Analysis.Quality Control:Implement protocols to monitor product consistency, stability, and performance.Identify and address deviations or defects in the manufacturing process.Product Development Support:Work closely with product development teams to assess the feasibility and safety of new formulations.Collaborate with regulatory authorities and product development teams to propose and establish claims.Partner with regulatory bodies, Quality & NPD teams, and suppliers to align on reformulation.Ensure compliance requirements are met in the agreed PDV critical path.Documentation and Record Keeping:Maintain detailed records of ingredient sourcing, manufacturing processes, and regulatory compliance.Track new ingredients and stay up to date with cosmetic regulations.Manage compliance and regulatory product information files.Customer Confidence:Respond to complaints and incidents quickly and effectively.Build strong relationships with suppliers and lab partners.Participate in CSR activation in partnership with PDV teams and marketing.Budget Management:Propose and manage budgets in line with requirements.Support the development of supplier capability through engagement.Requirements:Completed tertiary qualification in Quality and/or Compliance Management or a related field.Minimum of 10 years of experience in social and ethical compliance and/or quality control, with at least 3 years in a managerial role.Exposure to compliance software is advantageous.In-depth knowledge of compliance standards and regulations.Proven experience in developing and implementing compliance and quality control programs.Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Certification in compliance and/or quality management is a plus.Competencies and Behaviours for Success:Understand risk.Represent business with external stakeholders.Operational acumen.Planning for future projects.Ability to influence.Leadership.Preference will be given to candidates from designated groups in terms of the Employment Equity Act.Job InfoJob Identification: 3107Posting Date: 07/25/2024, 09:56 AMJob Schedule: Full timeLocation: 36 Jenkinson Street, Parow East, 7500, ZA
