Key Responsibilities:Surveying Operations Management:Plan, schedule, and oversee the execution of all surveying activities, including topographicsurveys, construction surveys, as-built surveys, and deformation monitoring.Ensure the proper use and maintenance of surveying equipment, including total stations,GPS devices, and related software.Develop and implement standard operating procedures, best practices, and quality controlmeasures for surveying operations.Provide technical guidance and support to the surveying team to address complexsurveying challenges.Data Acquisition and Processing:Coordinate the collection of accurate and reliable survey data, including coordinates,elevations, and measurements.Oversee the processing, analysis, and interpretation of survey data using specializedsurveying software and GIS tools.Ensure the integration of survey data with other mine planning and operations data tocreate comprehensive, up-to-date mine models and plans.Mine Planning and Support:Collaborate with mine planning, engineering, and operations teams to understand their requirements and priorities.Provide surveying support for mine development, including the layout and monitoring ofmine workings, haul roads, and infrastructure.Assist in the development of mine plans, resource estimates, and production forecasts byproviding accurate and up-to-date survey data.Contribute to the identification and resolution of surveying-related issues that may impactmine operations.Project Management:Lead and manage surveying-related projects, from planning and execution to reporting andclose-out.Develop project plans, allocate resources, monitor progress, and ensure timely andsuccessful project delivery.Identify and mitigate project risks, and implement appropriate risk management strategies.Team Leadership and Development:Manage, mentor, and provide technical guidance to the surveying team to ensure theirprofessional growth and continuous skill development.Foster a collaborative and safety-focused work environment, promoting a culture ofcontinuous improvement.Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols.Reporting and Stakeholder Engagement:Prepare comprehensive reports, data visualizations, and presentations to communicatesurvey findings and recommendations to various stakeholders.Collaborate with mine management, operations, and engineering teams to provide insights and support decision-making.Represent the surveying function in cross-functional meetings and discussions.Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Surveying, Geomatics, or a related engineering field.5 years of experience as a Lead Surveyor or Senior Surveyor in a mining or similar heavy industrial environment.Thorough understanding of surveying principles, techniques, and equipment, including GPS, total stations, and GIS software.Proficient in the use of surveying software, such as AutoCAD, Carlson, or Trimble Business Center, for data processing, analysis, and mapping.Strong project management skills, including the ability to plan, execute, and deliver complex surveying projects.Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills, with the ability to analyze data, identify issues, and develop elective solutions.Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with crossfunctional teams and present technical information to various stakeholders.Experience in leading and managing a team of surveyors and technicians, including performance management and professional development.Familiarity with mining operations, mine planning, and engineering principles.Knowledge of relevant industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols.Certification as a Professional Surveyor (PS) or Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) is highly desirable.Experience with mining software, such as Maptek or Vulcan, is a plus
