Job Summary The Scrum master will be the facilitator for two or more Cross Functional Agile teams that use agile (within the SAFe Framework) as the delivery methodology. The scrum master will lead a team that ensures self-organisation and the ability to make changes quickly. The role will ensure that general agile principles and specific SAFe practices are applied to ensure effective preparation of the initiative backlog, successful PI Planning, up to date sprint backlog, delivery of solutions, integration into the broader Agile Release Train Tribe, successful transition of solutions into the target enterprise segments, and that successful people Change Management and adoption takes place.
Job Description The successful incumbent will support the HC Strategic Programme SAFe initiative and should possess the following knowledge and experience:
Delivery of Value Stream workLead two or more Cross Functional Agile teams (organized around Business Value Streams) using agile methodology (SAFe based).Develop plans for the landing of solutions (produced by the agile teams) in the enterprise. Ensure the plans are plugged into the overall Tribe Plan.Develop and implement plans to ensure delivery of the teams' work within the SAFe framework.Ensure delivery artefacts are maintained and updated.Ensure that agile team sprints are running smoothly, and corrective actions are taken wherever appropriate.Support and coach team members to ensure that the agile teams deliver their work on time, to the required quality, within budget, and to the business requirements.Communicate effectively to the Release Train Manager and Product Owner the progress and blockages in the ongoing sprints.Support the Release Train Manager in planning and executing the various SAFe ceremonies and cadences.Apply escalation and notification procedures for blockages, risks and issues encountered by the agile teams.Ensure all change governance and standards are adhered to in all delivery work.Accountability: Coaching on Agile ways of workUnderstand the current delivery model and guide teams to adopt agile ways of work (SAFe based).Coach agile team members and product owners in the adoption of Agile.Provide expert guidance and assistance to colleagues for successful transition to agile ways of work.Accountability: ManagementAdapt style to contribute and enhance overall team performance and work effectively with people across a wide range of disciplines and levels (both internal and external/3rd party suppliers).Deal with ambiguity and uncertainty and be effective when working with unstructured teams, situations and environments.Manage initiative costs and resource assignments, track actuals against budget and manage the delivery within time/cost/quality constraints.Accountability: Stakeholder ManagementEffectively manage and develop relationships with key decision makers and stakeholders to achieve successful outcomes.Use stakeholder management strategy effectively to navigate the organisation.Facilitate and negotiate with multiple parties to bring about agreement and resolution, even when a position/view is not initially shared by others.Clearly and effectively communicate difficult or complex ideas to stakeholders, peers and subordinates.Reporting and toolingEnsure all work from the Agile Teams are captured, updated and tracked on Jira.Provide a weekly report on progress to the Programme Office (PgMO) as per the PgMO standard.Provide a monthly report on progress to the Programme Office (PgMO) as per the PgMO standard.Keep Jira updated for all the Tribe related work as per the PgMO standard.Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework and Absa Policies and Policy Standards.Understand and manage risks and risk events (incidents) relevant to the role.Educational Requirements: Bachelor's degree (NQF 7)Appropriate Scrum Master professional accreditation – at least one of the following: PMI-ACP, SAFe SSM, CSM, PSM, CSP, or CSD.Experience Required: At least 5 years' experience in managing medium to high complexity projects.SAFe experience is preferred – 6 or more months is advantageous.Education National Certificate: Information Technology
