Leverage media platforms to deliver BU specific external communication messages, which enhance the reputation of the Bank and realize commercial benefits. Proactively build a media profile for BU leadership and support the leadership team during media engagements.QualificationsA post graduate degree in Communication or Public Relations.A required Masters Degree in Business Commerce.A preferred International Certificate in Corporate Governance.Experience:More than 10 years of experience in a Corporate Communication leadership role, preferably in a Financial Services (FS) context. Excellent business acumen and FS sector literacy. Understanding of the full communication mix. Ability to develop and implement communication programmes, campaigns, and plans.Experience in leader and stakeholder engagement, writing for media and internal comms channels, planning for successful media relations, and managing several large agencies on campaigns.Key Responsibilities:Maintain and protect Standard Bank Group reputation through appropriate issue response and approval of all external communications across media platforms. Develop an external communication strategy for the BU that differentiates the BU, positions the brand, and enhances stakeholder trust and SBG reputation, in accordance with the SBG external communication blueprints and the master narrative.Develop strategic BU public relations plans in alignment with the BU strategy, by understanding material issues for financial services and inherent risk issues and studying products and markets; analyzing and identifying client requirements; preparing and presenting proposals; integrating efforts with other marketing disciplines.Drive BU public relations campaigns by coordinating and updating requirements with internal departments and external services; scheduling and timing requirements with production, creative, media, and traffic managers; resolving day-to-day issues; providing tactical counsel.Lead the development of BU public relations communication by writing, editing, proofreading, and distributing news releases, media advisories, speeches, and presentations.Develop promotional opportunities for the BU CEO and leadership by arranging speaking engagements, managing press announcements and informational sessions, and arranging special events to build brand strength and profile in the external market.
