Lead Liability SurveyorPlay a pivotal role in mitigating liability risks for a reputable, customer-centric insurer.Contribute to the advancement of our commercial growth strategy.Remote role with UK-wide travel - package includes car allowance or company car scheme.About the roleJoin NFU Mutual as the Lead Liability Surveyor and play a crucial role in enhancing our approach to liability risk management. In this position, you'll provide expert technical insight and thought leadership across Employers' Liability, Public Liability, Products Liability, and Environmental Impairment Liability, supporting our expanding portfolio across a diverse range of commercial sectors, beyond just farming.
This is a brand-new role within the team where you'll research, develop, and implement comprehensive risk management strategies, procedures, and standards for liability surveying. Your expertise will be essential in shaping a sustainable and profitable liability risk appetite. Additionally, you'll lead efforts to transfer knowledge, skills, and expertise to the Loss Control Surveyors, Underwriting, and Agency colleagues.
You'll conduct detailed liability surveys on larger and more complex risks, offering in-depth risk management advice to mitigate potential losses. Collaboration is key in this role, as you'll build and maintain strong relationships with senior management within clients' businesses, as well as with internal teams, including Underwriting, Claims, Agents, and other NFU Mutual colleagues.
The role is home-based and requires significant travel across the UK (including Northern Ireland, Scotland, and the Isle of Man) for surveys, client visits, team meetings, and external events. You can expect to be on the road several days each week, with the flexibility to plan your travel and work schedules in advance.
About youYou'll be an experienced risk surveyor with extensive knowledge of a range of liability covers, including Employers' Liability, Public Liability, and Product Liability; experience in environmental impairment is desirable. Your expertise will span multiple commercial sectors, and you'll have a proven track record in loss prevention and risk management strategies.
Additionally, you'll have:
An open-minded approach coupled with experience of coaching training and developing colleagues on liability risks, hazards, and appropriate loss prevention measures.Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to provide detailed technical advice to internal and external stakeholders.In-depth understanding of health and safety legislation, guidance, and best practices across the UK and Crown Dependencies, as well as relevant international standards.A proven ability to influence, negotiate, manage and engage at all levels effectively with stakeholders and customers.A full, valid UK Driving Licence is essential for this role.Benefits and RewardsWhen you join our team, you can expect a supportive culture and an attractive range of rewards and benefits including:
