POSITION REQUIREMENTS Discipline Lead Electrical and Control systems within the Water Advisory Group (Office location: Johannesburg, Pietermaritzburg or Umhlanga) Electrical engineering design – Including medium voltage switch gear, low voltage switch gear, motor control center and small power and lighting designs (this must include all stages of design requirements with relevant reporting, contract documentation preparation, estimates, etc.) Technically strong candidate with a strong drive to automate and integrate designs, reports, and experienced within Water advisory. Solid knowledge in developing electrical design specifications including performance specifications, the review of specifications and diagrams prepared by contractors, manufacturers, and suppliers. Knowledge of South African and International electrical standards such as SANS, IEC, or similar equivalent Coordinate and conduct site inspections as well as MCC and panel Factory Acceptance Testing Procedures Performing commissioning and handover procedures. Client relationship management, Business Development and Client Liaison, targeting sales with key targets/outputs, i.e., Private sector and good networks which could potentially result in repeat work from existing clients. Knowledge of Autodesk Construction Cloud, ASITE, or other collaboration software is an added advantage. The ability to objectively evaluate both technically and commercially, different options based upon project objectives/requirements. Acquainted with PLC's Telemetry and SCADA systems. Knowledge of VFCs, Soft Starters, liquid starters and associated electrical starting methods will be an added advantage. Project Management experience in overseeing projects from inception to close out will be an added advantage. Responsibilities when implementing ISO 19650 include utilizing a Building Information Modelling Execution Planning (BEP), a Model Information Delivery Plan (MIDP), a Team Information Delivery Plan (TIDP) and a Common Data Environment (CDE)
Minimum required qualification: Eng./B.Sc. Electrical Engineering (Light Current) or B.Eng./B.Sc. Electrical and Electronic Engineering Professional registration with ECSA (PrEng) essential
Minimum experience, knowledge & skills: Experience in the following software and applications: AutoCAD Plant 3D – to develop Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Piping & Instrumentation Drawings (P&ID) AutoCAD Electrical – Single Line Drawings and Motor Control Centre General Arrangement diagrams Revit – 3D spatial modelling of equipment for building arrangement, Motor Control Centre General Arrangement diagrams and clash detection Modelling of electrical networks with the aid of digital tools (e.g., Power Factory, ETAP) Using tools such as Autodesk Construction Cloud, Revizto, and Asite for design coordination and review Competence in using PowerBI or similar packages is advantageous. Scripting, workflow automation and programming is advantageous.
Minimum experience, knowledge & skills: Minimum 5 - 10 years' experience and knowledge of pump stations, and water and wastewater treatment plant with regards electro-mechanical equipment and components Minimum 5 - 10 years' experience and knowledge of Control and Instrumentation aspects of water and waste water treatment systems including pump stations is an added advantage. Experience with PLCs and SCADA systems will be an added advantage. Autodesk Construction Cloud, ASITE, or other collaboration software Experience in FIDIC (Yellow book included), GCC, NEC and other required Experience with contract administration and claims Experience in all aspects of consultancy
