JOB PURPOSE
As a Lead Cloud Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the design, implementation, and management of cloud-based solutions and infrastructure. A lead will provide technical leadership to a team of cloud engineers and collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive innovation and efficiency in cloud services.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Cloud Architecture and Strategy
Lead the design and development of scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud architectures based on business requirements.
Define cloud adoption strategies, migration plans, and roadmap for optimizing cloud services.
Evaluate emerging cloud technologies and recommend solutions to enhance performance and innovation.
Team Leadership and Mentorship
Provide technical leadership and guidance to a team of cloud engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
Mentor and coach team members, facilitating their professional growth and development.
Collaborate with hiring managers to recruit and onboard new cloud engineering talent.
Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Automation
Champion infrastructure as code (IaC) practices and automation initiatives using tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible.
Implement automated provisioning, configuration, and deployment of cloud resources to improve efficiency and reliability.
Collaborate with DevOps teams to integrate cloud infrastructure into CI/CD pipelines.
Cloud Operations and Optimization
Oversee cloud infrastructure operations, monitoring performance, availability, and cost.
Implement best practices for cloud resource optimization, including rightsizing, cost allocation, and budget management.
Lead troubleshooting efforts and resolution of complex cloud-related issues.
Security and Compliance
Define and enforce cloud security policies, controls, and compliance requirements.
Conduct regular security assessments and audits of cloud environments, addressing vulnerabilities and ensuring regulatory compliance.
Collaborate with security teams to implement and improve cloud security measures.
Stakeholder Collaboration and Communication
Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into scalable cloud solutions.
Communicate cloud architecture designs, strategies, and recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Build strong relationships with business leaders, ensuring alignment of cloud initiatives with organizational goals.

Minimum Academic, Professional Qualifications & Experience required for this position
Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, Data Science, or a Business Administration, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, ITIL) preferred.
5+ years of experience in cloud engineering or related roles, with at least 2 years in a leadership position.
Proven expertise in designing and implementing cloud architectures using AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, or other cloud platforms
Strong background in infrastructure as code (IaC) and automation tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible).
Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
Other required skills
Deep understanding of cloud security best practices, compliance requirements, and governance frameworks.
Excellent leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and drive innovation in cloud services.
Certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or Google Professional Cloud Architect are highly desirable.
