Largo – Senior Accountant

Job Description Summary

Supervisory professional accounting position which includes preparing, reviewing, and maintaining a general accounting system and related financial reporting (internal and external) for municipal government. An employee in this class is expected to exercise independent professional judgment based on knowledge of accounting practices and principles, and supervises professional, clerical and technical personnel. Must have the ability to multi-task and complete varying assignments while meeting departmental deadlines.

Work is performed under the general supervision of the Assistant Finance Director.

Hiring Range: $58,156.80 – $66,882.40

Additional Compensation/Benefits:

– Additional $3,800 employee benefit dollars; the unused balance of which can be kept as taxable income

– May receive$2,500 in relocation assistance for candidates outside Pinellas, Pasco, Hillsborough, or Manatee counties.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in accounting and three (3) years directly related professional experience in accounting or equivalency of training and experience

Supervision experience in governmental finance setting is preferred

Professional certification is preferred – Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Government Finance Officer (CGFO), Certified Public Finance Officer (CPFO), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), etc.
