Knowledge of computer programs
Record keeping and filling in compliance with studies specific requirement and Good Clinical Laboratory Practice (GCLP)
Preparing labels and shipping documents, documenting chain-of-custody on all samples entering the lab.
Maintenance of equipment.
Promote harmony, teamwork and sharing of knowledge via training
Biological samples processing and testing (analysing)
Key Responsibilities
Receive labelled and captured samples on LIMS/LDMS
Conduct routine and specialized laboratory tests / Procedures (e.g., haematology, microbiology, chemistry, PBMC…)
Analyse biological samples using advanced laboratory equipment.
Record and interpret test results accurately, ensuring precision in diagnoses.
Maintain and calibrate laboratory instruments and equipment.
Ensure adherence to established laboratory protocols, standard operating procedures, and Quality management plan procedures.
Train laboratory staff
Work collaboratively with study teams to provide support for the success of the study protocol.
Maintain laboratory records and documentation.
Stay updated with advancements in medical technology and laboratory procedures.
Comply with all safety and infection control protocols.
Work under supervision of Laboratory manager and other laboratory senior staff.
Printing of results and follow up on outstanding results.
Temperature recording
Samples receipt, samples dispatch, and samples shipment
Qualifications
National Diploma or bachelor's degree in biomedical technology
Bachelor's degree in medical laboratory science
Advantage
Knowledge of principles of Good Clinical Practice (GCP), Good Clinical Laboratory Practice (GCLP), safety rules, quality assurance, and International Air Transport Association (IATA)
Knowledge of Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) or similar laboratory information system.
Professional registration with HPCSA as medical technologist or medical laboratory scientist in clinical pathology
Experience in microbiology, haematology, chemistry, and molecular diagnostics
Experience
Minimum of 1 year of experience in a clinical or medical laboratory setting.
Minimum of 2 years in a clinical research setting.
Requirements
Attention to detail, ability to work under pressure.
Work independently with minimal supervision.
SA Citizen or valid Work Permit to work in South Africa.
Willing to work overtime and on weekends.
Preferred Skills
Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
Good communication and teamwork.
Good administration skills including report writing.
Proficient computer literacy skills including Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
