Laboratory Technician - Paintshop

Job Overview:Responsible for supporting the East London plant with chemical analysis and monitoring of critical materials and plant processes (e.g. pretreatment, e-coat) to ensure strict adherence to quality standards. The incumbent will also provide technical support for investigations and problem solving. Calibration / verification of analytical equipment and adherence to S.H.E.Q standards will form part of the scope of work of the technicianMinimum Requirements:Matric/Grade 12Minimum NQF 7 - Degree in Chemistry or relevant equivalent3 + years' experience working in a chemical laboratoryExperience with automotive coatings, metal pretreatment and e-coat processes would be advantageousExperience with various analytical techniques - e.g. Karl Fischer titration, scanning electron microscope, FTIR spectrophotometer – and test methods e.g. titrationsMain Responsibilities:Responsible for analysis, monitoring and evaluation of materials and plant processes (e.g. metal pretreatment, e-coat) to ensure strict adherence to the company quality standardsUse analytical techniques and chemical knowledge to assist with investigations and problem solvingConducts material evaluation as per the ISIR processConducts calibration/verification of equipmentEnsures adherence to SHEQ standardsResponsible for self-developmentEnsures departmental operational plans are met e.g. deadlinesPerforms delegated S.H.E.Q tasks and duties and informs superior about deviationsEnsure compliance with the Company's Integrity and Anti Bribery Codes, Conflict of Interest Policy & S.H.E.Q requirements Key Skills and Competencies:Analytical and conceptual thinkingExcellent communication and report-writing skillsProficiency in Microsoft Office suiteAbility to perform the minimum required physical and mental requirements of the functionPeople's Principles as per LEAD
