Laboratory Manager

PURPOSE OF THE JOB: Management of the Processing Lab, ensuring quality analysis of mine, process control, accounting, and roll samples in a cost-effective and efficient manner.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS: Honours Degree in Chemistry is essential.6 Years Laboratory experience is essential.3 Years Management/supervisory experience is essential.COMPETENCIES: Knowledge of instrumental and wet chemical analysis.Knowledge of statistics.Knowledge of fire assay.Knowledge of quality systems and standards.Knowledge of general management principles.Skilled in utilizing/analyzing statistics.Disciplinary procedural, conflict, and dispute management skills.Performance management skills.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: To effectively control working & operating costs for the laboratory.To ensure agreed turnaround times are adhered to for the laboratory.To ensure proper controls are in place to ensure high quality laboratory results.To maintain and build on ISO and safety standards for the lab.To monitor technological advances in the field of chemical analysis.To implement and maintain proper people management methodologies and practices for the lab.
