Job Purpose:
To perform general tasks associated with the Civil Engineering and Geomatics laboratories. To assist the relevant academic staff with preparation for practicals and experiments and to ensure that the laboratories are maintained according to the relevant standards, maintain equipment and ensuring that the H&S protocols are observed.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience: Grade 12At least 1-year experience in a relevant laboratory or industry.Recommendation: A National Diploma/ Diploma in Civil Engineering or relevant.Experience in Civil Engineering materials laboratories preferable.Key Performance Areas / Principal Accountabilities: Assist with laying out of class material, setting up of equipment and any other general preparations for classes/instructions.Store keepingIssuing of equipment to studentsGeneral minor maintenance and repairs of equipmentPerform general tasks for the workshopsGood health and safety awarenessAbility to work in a changing environment.Good verbal and written communicationStress toleranceTechnical skillsPlanning and organizational skillsTime managementFitness for position as assistantAbility to operate machines and electronic equipmentSafety awarenessGeneral Information: Closing Date: 20 September 2024
