Our client, based Stellenbosch , is in the wine making industry and they are looking to hire a Laboratory Analyst to join their team as soon as possible.
Position Overview: The role of the Laboratory Analyst in the testing laboratories is to have the ability to prioritize effectively and work in a fast-paced environment. This includes but is not limited to entering of results, equipment monitoring, conforming to and maintaining ISO 17025 quality system in the test laboratory and working effectively with the relevant business service units to achieve these objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform analysis standard methods and support in-process production
Completes timely, accurate and valid laboratory analysis are carried out within required specifications.
Makes up accurate standard solutions and verifies through standardisation and quality control checks.
Ensure all equipment is compliance to SANS 17025 and GLP
Ensure chemicals are correctly stored and identified.
Ensure correct use of laboratory equipment in area of responsibility.
Troubleshooting analysis where discrepancies occur
Verify and monitor equipment records.
Analyse data to identify quality risk.
Ensure all quality records are completed accurate.
Maintenance and Calibration of Equipment
Ensures the reporting of accurate and reliable results.
Verifies good working order of equipment and reports any irregularities to Laboratory Manager or responsible person.
Correct usage and safe keeping of laboratory equipment.
Manage equipment reliability.
Problem Solving
Contributing team member during problem solving from a quality perspective; Ensure loop closure; Verification of corrective action.
Evaluate all methods and processes to improve laboratory activities.
Investigates complaints and internal non-conformances and reports findings.
Quality Management Systems
Participates in the drafting, completion and reviewing of QMS procedures for laboratory processes.
Assists in requested quality assessments/audits undertaken by the company when required.
Participates in the SANAS system and if required acts as a Technical Signatory and/or internal auditor.
Participates in technical research projects when required.
Assists and ensures availability during audits.
Supplier and Stock Management
Assists in the evaluation of supplier's service performance by providing feedback to Lab Manager
Maintains proper stock levels of chemicals, Media, and consumables, by providing applicable communication of order levels to responsible persons.
Health, Safety and Housekeeping
Assists in maintaining the Hygiene Management Procedure
Compliant to company and statutory safety policies and procedures
Maintains good personal hygiene.
Maintains clean and Hygienic work environment.
Education and Experience:
High Diploma or applicable B.Sc. Degree or Similar Qualification in Micro, Food Technology or Biotechnology
This position is based in Stellenbosch and is a full time permanent position.

Salary : R10 000-R12 000
