Purpose of the Role Lead the planning, execution, and evaluation of learning initiatives tailored to the needs of our business. You will collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners to design and deliver effective training programs that align with local business objectives and compliance requirements. This role requires strong project management skills, cultural sensitivity, and a deep understanding of the SETA, QCTO and SAQA landscape.
This position reports to the Head of Learning and Development Your responsibilities will include: Program Development:Work closely with business leaders and HR partners to identify learning needs and develop training programs that support employee development and business objectives; and meet the requirements of the BBBEE scorecardProgram Management:Manage all learning & development programs in the group including funded and non-funded initiatives. Reporting of WSP and ATR, liaising with the WRSeta.Vendor Management:Identify and manage relationships with local training vendors, consultants, and industry partners to supplement internal capabilities and deliver high-quality learning experiences.Program Evaluation:Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of learning programs through assessment tools, participant feedback, and performance metrics, making adjustments as necessary to optimize impact.Funding & Budget Management:Manage the learning and development budget, allocating resources strategically to support priority initiatives and maximize return on investment. Work closely with the Finance department with regards to reconciling funding and expenses.Project Coordination:Lead the planning and execution of learning initiatives, managing timelines, resources, and stakeholders to ensure successful implementation.Communication:Communicate regularly with employees to promote learning opportunities, gather feedback, and provide updates on program initiatives.Minimum Qualification and Experience Required Bachelor's degree in Education, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related fieldCertification in training and development (e.g., ODETDP) is a plus.5 years proven experience in program management and facilitationStrong understanding of the labor market, and regulatory environment. Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders effectively.Strong communication and interpersonal skillsSkills, Knowledge and Abilities Training and Development Expertise: Deep understanding of instructional design principles, adult learning theory, and training methodologies to design and deliver effective learning programs.Project Management: Strong project management skills to plan, execute, and evaluate learning initiatives within budget and deadlines, coordinating resources and stakeholders effectively.Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to convey learning objectives, facilitate training sessions, and engage with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.Strategic Thinking: Ability to align learning initiatives with organizational goals and develop long-term strategies that address skill gaps and support business objectives.Needs Assessment: Skill in conducting needs assessments and gap analyses to identify learning needs and develop targeted training solutions that address performance gaps.Vendor Management: Experience in selecting, managing, and evaluating external training vendors and consultants to supplement internal capabilities and deliver high-quality learning experiences.Evaluation and Measurement: Ability to assess the effectiveness of learning programs through evaluation methods such as surveys, assessments, and performance metrics, and make data-driven decisions to optimize learning outcomes.Cultural Sensitivity: Cultural awareness and sensitivity to tailor learning programs to diverse audiences and navigate cultural nuances effectively, particularly in multinational or multicultural environments.Compliance and Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards related to employee training and development, particularly in areas such as safety, diversity, and inclusion.Collaboration and Relationship Building: Ability to build strong relationships and collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders, subject matter experts, and external partners to achieve common goals.Problem Solving: Strong problem-solving skills to identify learning challenges, address performance gaps, and develop innovative solutions that meet the needs of the organization and its employees.Leadership and Influencing Skills: Leadership abilities to inspire and motivate teams, drive change, and foster a culture of continuous learning and development within the organization.The Environment: takealot.com employees are entrepreneurial and dynamic, smart, customer- centric, fun and have the shared ambition of takealot.com being the leading e- commerce company in Africa.
