Minimum RequirementsTo be eligible for this apprenticeship, you must meet the following criteria:
Education: Grade 12 with Mathematics (not Mathematics Literacy).Residency: Must reside in Pinetown or surrounding areas.Employment Status: Must be currently unemployed.You must have passed the following subjects at NQF Level 4:
Mathematics / Technical Mathematics (Not Mathematics Literacy).Physical Science / Technical Science.N3 Diesel Trade Theory and/or N3 Mechanotechnology.Engineering Graphic and Design.Job SpecificationDuring the 4-year apprenticeship, you will be expected to:
Learn and observe: Gain a wide range of technical skills and processes under the instruction of experienced staff.Demonstrate skills: Apply what you've learned by working independently or as part of a team, taking on more responsibilities as your skills develop.Complete apprentice modules: Successfully complete the prescribed modules from merSETA throughout your training period, combining theoretical knowledge with practical skills.Health and safety: Understand the importance of maintaining a safe working environment.Workshop maintenance: Learn to maintain and repair workshop equipment.Logbook maintenance: Keep a record of the projects you've worked on and the skills you've acquired over the course of the apprenticeship.Workplace housekeeping: Ensure the workspace is kept tidy and professional.Professional conduct: Maintain a smart appearance and always act in a professional manner.Additional duties: Carry out any other tasks assigned that are appropriate to your role.Key CompetenciesWorking safely: Adhering to safety protocols within the workshop.Accepting responsibility: Taking ownership of tasks and ensuring they are completed to a high standard.Technical capabilities: Demonstrating and improving your technical skills throughout the apprenticeship.Tenacity and perseverance: Showing determination and commitment to completing your apprenticeship successfully.Required DocumentsMake sure to attach certified copies (not older than 3 months) of the following documents when applying:
