Position Overview The Knowledge Manager will lead SASRI's Knowledge Management Unit in organizing, managing, and disseminating vital information to strengthen our research, development, and extension programs. This role requires a dynamic individual with expertise in knowledge management, communication, and project management to enhance the institute's capacity for knowledge sharing, stakeholder engagement, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities Knowledge and Information Management Organize and manage SASRI's information resources, ensuring systematic and efficient information flow to support research, technology development, and extension Oversee library systems, manage publications, and ensure the adoption of new knowledge management technologies Maintain relationships with stakeholders and foster effective communication with research, extension, and biosecurity teams Knowledge Exchange & Training Develop, implement, and manage knowledge exchange initiatives, including new technology deployment Facilitate training programs to support internal knowledge sharing, enhancing research impact and development across the organization Organize events such as roadshows and grower days and deliver presentations to various interest groups Stakeholder Engagement & Networking Build and maintain a strong network within the sugar industry and with external stakeholders (e.g., government bodies, NGOs, tertiary institutions) Collaborate with other SASA Divisions to promote the institute's achievements and maintain a positive brand image Identify and support media opportunities to enhance SASRI's visibility and influence Strategic and Project Management Contribute to the development of SASRI's strategic goals, aligning knowledge management practices with organizational objectives Manage the Knowledge Exchange project portfolio and ensure milestones are met in collaboration with research and program managers Oversee budget planning and reporting for the Knowledge Management Unit Human Resources Management: Lead and support the Knowledge Management Unit team, ensuring a positive, collaborative work environment Conduct performance reviews, recruit team members, and support staff development Identify training needs and work closely with HR to address professional growth and skill development
Minimum Requirements: Education Bachelor's degree in Natural, Biological, or Agricultural Sciences; Postgraduate qualification in communication or a related field is preferred. Management or public relations qualifications, along with project management certification, are advantageous
Experience Three - five years in knowledge management, communications, or network facilitation; experience in managing diverse teams and budgets is essential
Skills: Proficiency with digital and data management tools, especially Microsoft Office Suite Proven track record in developing creative, strategic solutions to support knowledge sharing and management Strong interpersonal, networking, and communication skills, with the ability to engage and motivate others
Additional Requirements: Valid Code EB driver's license
