The purpose of the role is to sell the protein and oil products of the Company throughout Southern Africa towards the feed industry.
The position must develop the customer base through a thorough understanding of the South African protein, vegetable oil and animal fats market.
A good knowledge of the value, availability and sources of alternatives is key to this position.
Minimum requirements: BSc Agri (Animal) Science degree At least 2 – 5 years relevant experience in Agricultural Commodity Trading Technical knowledge and market experience essential Well established business relationships in Animal Feed Industry Computer literacy, especially Microsoft Office Excel Knowledge, Skills and Attributes: Customer service orientated Aptitude of continuous learning Excellent negotiation skill Excellent communication skills in Afrikaans and English, both written and spoken Goal driven Accept responsibility and accountability Be able to solve problems quickly and efficiently Initiative and drive Reliable and disciplined Professionalism and presentable Assertive Role and responsibilities: Business Development & Sales Must have the ability to obtain a comprehensive understanding of the political, trading, and economical environments affecting the business, to ensure the right strategies are being developed and followed.
Contribute towards maximizing selling opportunities within the greater selling team to ensure that all sales opportunities are maximized in the animal feed sector Draw up sales plans per market segment and customer group.
This should analyze the volume and profitability potential in the different segments and should dictate future capex developments and possible expansion Develop and implemented the volume growth plan.
Identify new markets and customers, approach and introduce products to customer.
Working closely with customer to determine ideal solution for their application Maintaining and developing relationships with existing customers in person, via telephone calls and emails.
Travelling both regionally and nationally on a regular basis.
Negotiate terms of an agreement and closing sales within authorized parameters.
Attain budget across all channels as set out by manager (volume and margin).
Positioning prices for the range in order to provide value proposition and competition benchmark analysis for price decision.
Contributing to market intelligence (market -, pricing - and product survey).
Stock Management Continuously monitoring stock levels per product and site Liaising between departments to optimize planning Work closely with Sales administrator on Oil to manage sales, logistics and stocks.
Communicate issues on product quality with QC Planning Communication MRP of product with Sales Admin Managing MRP of product daily Weekly and monthly reporting on activities, figures, and market.
Quality Control: New Product Development Product and market research and assisting with new product development in the field – Greenfields, existing customer requirements, and special product solutions.
Is end-to-end responsible for developing products and driving innovation according to NPD plan Maximize product profitability and improve product performances by value added products Assures competitiveness and innovation of products and processes from a technological and commercial view Applies all relevant international regulations/norms/standards – as applicable Implementing and following the NPD gated process in respect to product development Develop new and innovative products within the respective segments (As per Commercial strategy) – in conjunction with NPD department Gain and maintain a decent knowledge of the technical properties of the different products, its applications, and the animal feeds industry.
Customer Queries Responsible for customer's voice within business, addressing all aspects influencing customer service internally and across departments.
(non-conformance management) Reporting Weekly reporting on sales performance with manager Monthly reporting on division performance against KPI's Quarterly presentation of performance in sales conference Health and Safety Participate in safety forums for example safety meetings and safety talks Follow-up on any activities assigned through safety meetings / committees / representatives / management Report all safety incidents to the relevant people Attend safety education and refresher programmes Comply with safety policies and procedures Distribute safety information as and when required Wear protective clothing (where applicable) at all times
