JUNIOR WORKSHOP AND SERVICE TECHNICIAN - DURBAN
We require a mature, responsible, and customer-oriented person to join our team as our workshop and service technician. Our vacuum pumps are a critical part of our customers' processes, so if they need to be repaired or serviced, a quick and accurate response is essential. The successful candidate will need to manage multiple issues at once and respond effectively to customer needs during and outside of normal work hours when required.

Minimum Grade 12 or N6 and preferably a trade as Millwright or Fitter & Turner.

Experience Required
3-5 years experience working in a service workshop.
Mechanical & electrical experience working on pumps and electrical motors (preferably vacuum pumps).

A good communicator verbally and in writing.

Above all, we require a professional approach to our workshop repairs and servicing.
Good planning abilities and timekeeping are essential.
Job Description
Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical principles.
In-service centre work (hands-on).
Perform stripping, cleaning, testing, and building of vacuum pumps.
Book in all pumps as per procedure when delivered on site and ensure that the line manager is informed of the delivery.
Liaise with customers in a professional and courteous manner.
Travel to clients for onsite servicing and repairs when required.
Ensure the completion of the sales process of the service, from enquiry to successful repair, delivery, and payment in coordination with the team.
Create job cards and quotes.
Proactively follow up on offers made and liaise with customers regarding the status of orders and back orders.
Retrieve order numbers, process proforma invoices, and follow through with its implementation.
Order local buy-out products for service.
Prepare spares and pumps for delivery/collection by customers.
Be computer literate, with an advantage in Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel, and Pastel.
Log data for the service centre and keep track of monthly statistics.
Update company SharePoint documents and lean kit daily.
Filing documents.
Follow existing procedures and implement new/improved procedures in the workshop.
Know basic conditions of employment and adhere to them when dealing with staff.
Work overtime when necessary.
Willing to learn more skills and undergo training.
Good understanding of stock and spares levels.
Report to the senior technician and branch manager.
Manage staff such as workshop assistants.
Travel overseas for training may be required.
Travel to branches in CT, Jhb, and PE may be required from time to time.
Assist with deliveries and collections to the branch.
Assist customers with enquiries (email, telephonic, and in person).
Source parts required for all products.
Assist with walk-in customers.
Provide follow-up dates and actions for the next service.

Perform lead generation for key segments.
Assist in growing the number of pumps serviced with follow-up dates and actions for next service.
Note: We will be conducting some technical ability tests with the shortlisted candidates.
