Junior Sommelier - 5* Luxury Lodge - Limpopo

As a Junior Sommelier, you'll assist the Executive Chef and General Manager in all aspects of wine program management, from selection and purchasing to inventory control. Your responsibilities include delivering exceptional guest service, maintaining a deep understanding of the wine list, and cultivating a welcoming environment for wine discovery. You'll also contribute to wine-related events, tastings, and educational programs while ensuring the highest standards of service and presentation in the restaurant.Responsibilities:Assist in wine program management, including selection, purchasing, pricing, and inventory control.Provide knowledgeable recommendations and pairing suggestions tailored to individual preferences.Maintain a deep understanding of the wine list and global wine regions.Cultivate a welcoming environment for guests, fostering a passion for wine discovery.Assist with wine-related events, tastings, and educational programs.Maintain and update wine inventory.Work closely with waiting and bar staff, assisting with service during lunch and dinner.Uphold proper wine service techniques, including opening, decanting, and pouring.Minimum Requirements:Matric with minimum English and Math Literacy.Minimum WEST Level 1 certification or equivalent qualification in wine knowledge.Minimum 2 years of experience in a high-end 4-5* hotel or lodge with a focus on fine dining.Creativity, attention to detail, and mixology certification highly advantageous.Signs You'd Be a Good Fit:Ability to work efficiently under pressure and prioritize tasks effectively.Strong attention to detail and a commitment to providing exceptional service.A positive and enthusiastic attitude with a willingness to learn and grow.Signs You Will Not Be a Good Fit:You are unable to work without constant direction.You require extensive written policies providing parameters around how you should do things at your job.You do not like to do a task if you think a job is not part of your job description.You struggle with frequent disruption.You don't perform well under pressure.We Offer:The opportunity to be part of the opening team at a brand new luxury lodge.A dynamic and supportive environment with a focus on guest satisfaction.Valuable mentorship and experience from seasoned professionals.The chance to contribute to the development and success of a world-class wine program.Compensation: Dependent on experience but will include lodging and meals during time at camp.
